Thames Valley Controls Ltd started life in Staines, London in 1971 as Thames Valley Lift Company Ltd. Rapid growth led to the business relocating in 1978 to Flint, North Wales and in 1994 TVCL was acquired by Dewhurst Plc.

In September 2019 TVC became part of the Vantage Elevator Solutions group along with GAL Manufacturing, Hollister-Whitney, GAL Canada, Courion, Bore-Max and Elevator Controls.
