The Lift & Escalator Symposium is organised by The Lift and Escalator Symposium Educational Trust, a registered charity (No: 1170947) that aims to advance education in lifts and related technologies.

The event began life after a few industry colleagues identified the need for a non-commercial, educational event that would be reasonably priced. The first event took place in 2011 and four years later the management team set up the charitable trust to ensure its longevity.

We are proud to be supported by The University of Northampton, the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) , the Society of Vertical Transportation (SoVT) who are a CIBSE society and The Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA).

• The University of Northampton offers various subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the Lift Engineering programme, the Foundation Degree and HNC in Lift Engineering and the BTEC Professional Diploma in Engineering (Lift Technology) courses.

• The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) is the professional body that exists to support the Science, Art and Practice of building services engineering.

• The Society of Vertical Transportation (SoVT) is a global professional community for individuals interested in the Vertical Transportation industry, including those involved in the design, engineering, installation, and innovation of lifts, escalators, and vertical mobility systems. The SoVT is committed to advancing the vertical transportation industry. Supporting VT professionals at every stage - from students to industry leaders - and provides opportunities for recognition, development, and connection across the global built environment.

• The Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA) is the UK trade association and advisory body for the lift and escalator industry with a membership covering some 95% of the lift and escalator industry.
